Tamara recommends to focus less on the physical results and more on the mental benefits that come with getting stronger.

If you are just starting out at the gym, Tamara offers tips and advice to ease gym anxiety and feel confident. She says, “I recommend planning out your workouts entirely so that you know EXACTLY what you’re doing before you get in there! It will help to take away that anxious “what’s next?!” feeling! Also, remember that everyone goes to the gym to work on themselves. The biggest tip to starting your fitness routine is to find what you love and start slow. Just get moving in whatever way you can. Summer is the perfect time to stay active while doing fun activities. Tamara says, “I loooove to go on long calming walks to clear my mind and also an easy yoga flow to stretch out my body. I am hoping to get back into surfing soon.”

If you are constantly overworking yourself and being overly strict in your fitness routine, it can be difficult to stay consistent.

“Create habits that will last you forever. Try not to go for the quick fixes or doing things you don’t enjoy because that is how you burn yourself out.”

And of course, there are those days when the motivation just isn't there, and that is totally okay! If this past year has taught us anything, it is that we have to prioritize our well-being and mental health. Mental health is just as important as physical. Luckily, fitness is a great outlet to deal with both. Being transparent with her audience is one of the most important parts of her fitness account and her authenticity is what makes her so inspiring. She says, "It’s important to show people that everyone goes through ups and downs and life is never picture perfect! I honestly hate following those who never show hardships because it just isn’t realistic.”

When it comes to achieving your fitness goals, nutrition is even more important than working out.
