How to Look Put Together with Stacie Rae

This week we are speaking to yet another girl boss and hat lover, Stacie Rae. She is known on Instagram as @willworkforfashion, where she shares fashion, beauty, and lifestyle tips to keep you looking glammed from head to toe. From nail inspo to jewelry hacks to wide-brim hats, she knows a thing or two about accessorizing. Stacie is the co-founder of Necklet, the original magnetic necklace layering clasp. If you love to layer necklaces but hate that they tangle, you will have to check out her brand. Necklet also just released a briefcase for necklaces that is perfect for all your summer travels.

Stacie Rae is here to help you look and feel your best all summer long. Whether it is updating your makeup routine or putting on your favorite outfit, investing in yourself will never go out of style. We will be sharing Stacie's favorite tips and products to look put together post lock-down.

Dress to Impress

With the lock-down behind us, it is time to pull out our best-dressed attire and hit the town. Stacie describes her style as on-trend but classic. She loves to style simple, basic pieces in edgier ways that accentuate her body type. We are all for simple pieces that can be worn in many ways. Simplifying your wardrobe with a few staple pieces that can be mix and matched is the way to go this summer. Here are some summer trends Stacie has been living for: “White denim, linen, satin slip dresses, pops of neon, lace-up heels, wide-brim hats, and straw bags.”

Here are 3 Looks for Summer Festivities that Stacie put together:

  1. Backyard Barbecue: “White jean shorts, a blue tank or bodysuit, a wide brim hat, and cute lace-up sandals or sneakers.”
  2. Pool Party: “I’d wear something short and strapless like a little tube shorts romper so that I didn’t get tan lines."
  3. Road Trips: “Something comfortable but still chic like a matching two-piece short and tee or tank set in a terry or cotton fabric.”

As a busy mother of two and a businesswoman, looking put together is not always an easy task. That's why it's important for her to have a few interchangable staple items. Summertime usually means going out more and wearing less. These items are staples in her summer wardrobe: “A few great bathing suits and cover-ups, straw hat, cool sunglasses, and TKEES sandals.”

Her favorite bathing suit brands are Monday Swim, We Wore What, Same Swim, and Aerie. And if you are shoe-obsessed like us, be sure to check out her collection of heels and booties on Instagram.

Hair Care

For hair accessories, claw clips are one of Stacie’s favorite ways to accessorize this summer. Stacie says, “I’m a hat girl all the way, but I am loving that big claw clips have made a comeback and wear those daily.” When she does opt for a wide brim, Stacie’s go-to look is with sleek, straight hair and let's the hat speak for itself. Or she’ll pull her hair back and rock it with some big hoops for a more fun look.

To achieve silky, smooth straight hair, Stacie recommends using the BondiBoost HG Range of hair care. She starts with the BondiBoost shampoo and conditioner to replenish and repair the hair follicle. Before styling, she goes in with the heat protectant spray and then flat irons her hair for a sleek, frizz-free look. Use her code 'WILLWORKFORFASHION20' for 20% off your BondiBoost order and learn more about her hair journey on her Instagram to see exactly how she is restoring her hair.

Treat Yourself

Most of us have developed a love-hate relationship with online-shopping during quarantine (we love it, but our wallets hate it). When it comes to splurging on fashion, it is always better to invest in brands that are good for you and the planet. Sustainable and ethical businesses are worth the extra money because the practices and efforts ensure steps are being made to preserve our planet.

Stacie’s favorite sustainable brands to splurge on are Agolde and re/done denim. Another item Stacie recommends investing in is a great (faux) leather jacket. Look for one that is a comfortable fit that will last forever. Lastly, “Chanel will never be a dollar you regret spending because it’s timeless and increases in value.”

If you are looking to save (who isn’t?), Stacie recommends secondhand! Thrift shopping is a fun and affordable way to find discounted items that are unique and original. Stacie says, “There are so many great sites out there where you can buy gently used luxury pieces at a discounted price. Another tip of mine is buying designer toiletry bags and using them as clutches!”

Perfumes are also an investment, but well worth it because when you smell good, you feel good. Stacie’s summertime scent is the Love Story by Chloe and the original Viva La Juicy Perfume.

Step up Your Skincare

As the summer heat persists, it's time to update your beauty routine. If you are looking for supple, glowing skin, you will have to try out Stacie’s favorite at-home spa treatment, derma-planing. Derma-planing is great for removing peach fuzz and the top layer of dead skin cells to reveal glowing, fresh skin that is baby smooth.

"Derma-planing (shaving your face) is the best thing I ever started doing for my skin! It makes it so smooth and glowy! And then I moisturize like crazy because I have naturally dry skin - I love to mix my moisturizer with argan oil.”

Stacie recommends the Dermaflash for seamless at-home derma-planing. The Dermaflash comes with blade refills and helps you achieve spa-like results at home. Now that your skin is silky smooth, your makeup will apply effortlessly.

Sweat Proof Makeup

When it comes to a makeup routine for the summertime, search for products that are resistant to sweat and help nurture the skin. Summer is all about glowy, radiant, and healthy skin so the fewer products the better.

Stacie recommends a tinted moisturizer for the summertime. It will provide a natural skin finish, and keep you protected from the sun. Tinted moisturizers are perfect for daytime looks when you want to look natural but still put together. If she is looking for extra coverage, Stacie’s favorite foundation is the IT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better Foundation. Stacie says, “Anything from IT Cosmetics is amazing and dewy, I also really love Vita Liberate Beauty Blur Primer.”

Next, Stacie goes in with Tarte Shape Tape underneath her eyes to brighten and lift the area. After setting the under eyes with translucent powder, it's time to add a glow with bronzer and blush. For bronzer, Stacie recommends Hoola Benefit Bronzer and for blush, she loves the Becca Cosmetics Mineral Blush. For eyes, she keeps it simple with a brow gel by Wander Beauty and The One and Done Long-Wear Volumizing Mascara by Annie Lawless.

Lastly, Stacie says her favorite setting spray to keep makeup lasting all day is the Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Setting Spray. Setting spray locks in makeup while adding extra moisture to make sure your skin keeps that dewy glow.

Healthy Skin

For everyday wear, Stacie uses a tinted SPF by PCA Skin. PCA Skin offers a wide selection of skincare products based on your skincare needs. SPF is an obvious must to assist in anti-aging efforts and protect your skin from harmful rays. A tinted SPF is even better, adding coverage and protection in one step.

Her favorite body sun protection products are from the brand Coola. If you haven’t heard about Coola, this sunscreen brand will be your best friend this summer. The lightweight formula goes on without leaving a white cast or sticky residue. We also love this brand for its sustainability efforts, reef-safe formula, and organic, ethically sourced ingredients.

Self-tanning is a lifesaver for the summertime. Skip the harmful rays and get a glowing tan at home with Stacie's favorite self-tanner and cult favorite, Lux Unfiltered by Sivan Ayla. Stacie says, “I self-tan weekly! Exfoliate first and don’t forget to wash your hands!” Her favorite exfoliator to prep for her self-tan is the Necessaire Body Exfoliator. Your skin will feel rejuvenated and the tan will lay flawlessly.
